INTRODUCTION
Casavedese has learned to regard water as precious resource that many in the world do not even have.
It is shame to flush the WC with clean water.
We are happy to welcome guest who share this view. Every bathroom at acasasvedese has tools to take care of shower water (called grey water when it contains some soap and dirt.
Good use of laundry machine
You can use our laundry machine as the water from the washing machine is used to clean the floors. The condense water from the AC set on dry mode, is used to water our trees (peaches, avocado, grapefruit, peanut) and our passion fruit.
We avoid as much as possible chlorinated products please.
we use oxygenated detergents!
They are not needed as most bacteria do not survive dry surfaces longer time and they do not like ecofriendly soap. Bacteria wants humidity and about 27 Celsius like under our nails as among others the a Swedish immunologist Agnes Wold explains in her SR podd

Ecofriendly showers
During summer with the heat we have it is important to be able to take a shower now and then. We made a check of shower water consumption.
A water truck with 7 cubic meter costs 40 Euro on Lipari in June 2026 discounted price due to water emergency. How many showers can be done with 1 m³ (m^3)
Ecofriendly shower water consumption test
- When he soaps himself, he doesn’t let the water run out of the shower.
- When the landlord takes a shower he does not let any grey (with soap) water disappear in the drain.
RESULT
After one shower he saved about 10 liters grey water (water with soap) As 1 m³ = 1000 liter, with his way of doing shower he can make 100 showers with 1 m³
THE USE OF GREY WATER
- With the shower water he can water the garden trees because their deep roots that are not damaged by soap. . NB. The phosphate in the grey water also provides nutrients to the trees.
- Grey water is also to use it to flush the wc
- or to rinse plastic and metal from bio that attracts ants and rats.
CONCLUSION
Thanks to tw weekends water supply we have now (July 21 2026 )approximately 12 m³ in the upper water tank (we have two working water tanks).
So my guests can during July and August do 1200 showers if they do ecofriendly showers I ask however my guest to:
- do shower on the beach if sweet water showers are available there. Some beaches in Canneto have communal water something that casasvedese does not have access to only on weekends.
- take a sweet water shower with fresh water (in a 2 liter pet bottle?) before drying yourself with a towel after . This way you don’t have to use fresh water to rinse salt off your towels.
- put laundry in soap during night and rinse in the machine the day after.
- Never use chlorinated products as explained in this page.

The grey water
As menioned above:
- The grey water is used to flush the WC or water plants with deep roots
- The grey water is also used to rinse plastic, aluminium, glass and metal so they do not attract ants, cockroaches and rats
