We do our best to be an ecologically sustainable agritourism house. We work for that because it makes our life and stay more pleasant. We do not have infinite water resources and we have to collaborate with the nature and the garden inhabitants surrounding us.
a pleasant stay
To have a pleasant stay, it is good if our neighbor animals (there are many!), lizards, cats, snakes and rats remain in their home, the garden. We do not want to attract these into the house by leaving food residues after dinners, on tables, dishes, metal and plastic containers.
No use of poisons
All our neighbor garden animals are important so we want them to live well without us spreading poison around us. The ants cleans the aluminium cat food buckets. The cats limits the proliferation of rats and the grass snakes helps the cat with this work. The lizards and birds, limits the proliferation of mosquitoes.
no chlorinated products
The landlord followed before the Italian heavy use of chlorinated cleaning products. We have stopped with that for several reasons.
Casavedese since June 2026 uses only minimal quantities of household chlorinated products. We use instead alternative non chlorinated bleach liquids and powders. Why?

No CRC for our guests
Three young and strong (not sedentary obese) islanders died recently because of CRC (colorectal cancer). A fourth survived thanks to early radiotherapy.
He also knew about the high Italian consumption for chlorinated products like Amuchina and others. He wanted therefore to see if there was a correlation between CRC and the use of chlorinated products. His investigation about ecotoxycology about chlor led to a revolution in the cleaning household routine of casasvedese.
Peroxide and soap cleaning disinfectants

Italian women who look for chlorine scent as a sign of cleanliness may believe that casasvedese is dirty. The landlord has therefore decided to add information about this Swedish no chlorinated cleaning routine in the casasvedese home page.
As a laundry powder we us Soft blue peroxide powder.
For the floor we use Sodium carbonate, also known as soda ash or washing soda, that is an alcaline inorganic compound with the chemical formula
In the wc we use a product with active carbon that is known to be highly effective at removing THMs that is probsbly responsible for CRC dvelopment.
